They say the best things in life are free and this year’s Hawera A and P Show is no exception.
Association President, Wayne Bigham, announced today that visitors to the 2015 Hawera Auto Court Egmont A and P Show would be treated to free entry.
“This offer has been made possible thanks to a partnership between the Egmont A and P Association, South Taranaki District Council and the TSB Community Trust,” says Mr Bigham.
“We wanted to do something positive to demonstrate our support of our rural community and businesses that have been adversely affected by the low dairy pay out and storms earlier this year. I’m absolutely thrilled with the support the Council and TSB Community Trust have given us. The free entry is something that everyone in the community can take advantage of and also presents an opportunity to show off our rural community and local businesses,” he says.
This year the Show, which historically has run over Friday/Saturday, has changed to run on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.
“I expect with the free entry and change to Saturday/Sunday, set in the magnificent Egmont Showground’s, we’ll see a bonanza turnout which will have a positive spin off for the trade exhibitors at the Show,” says Mr Bigham.
“The farming community have been staunch and loyal supporters of both the show and the Association since its inception in 1883,” says Bigham. “This support continues strongly today, demonstrated by the fact that this event, now in its 132nd year, has over 100 sponsors.”
When approached by the Association the TSB Community Trust was keen to provide support to enable free entry “supporting our communities success is what we are all about, with so many volunteers, local groups, people and businesses involved, the show is a real opportunity for us to do just that -it’s a great community event” said Maria Ramsay, the Trust’s Chief Executive.
